Happy 2010 PDF Print E-mail

Happy New Year, unfortunately I was asleep by 9.30pm and didn't get to see if we could see the fireworks from our hotel room.

We move into our new house on the 8th of January, so until then we are in a hotel room. We've been for a walk through our new house, the house inside is really nice, the rooms are really decent sizes, particularly the bedrooms. I'm looking forward to getting moved in.

I meant to post before we moved but time got away from me just too fast by the time I turned around it was time to pack up and go.

It's still early days so I don't know how I feel about living down here in a big city, there's so many people and traffic and traffic lights that I really don't like , but on the other hand there are so many attractions that a small town doesn't have.

Today we caught a train into the city, J was in seventh heaven going on a 'real live train', then a tram around the city, walked through Chinatown, visited Old Melbourne Gaol, walked through the Treasury and Fitzroy Gardens. Fitzroy Gardens are excellent, they have a model Tudor village and a carved faerie tree and a playground with a slide shaped like a dragon, cook's cottage which is the cottage of Captain Cook's parents and masses of gorgeous sculptures.

I haven't been to any yarn stores yet, but for all that Melbourne should be the home of wool, the list of yarn stores seems quite dismal. The few that do have websites don't seem to have a range as nice as my old LYS, I'm holding out hope for the ones not on the net, but seriously in this day and age it drives me crazy when stores don't have web pages.

Well that's it for the moment, I'll keep you updated on our sightseeing.

I've wanted to make tiny little socks to use as ornaments on the christmas tree and then I came across this:

Here's the link

How cute is it, I think I'll have to make some up and as a plus I can use up some of the left over yarn I have.
